Animated stop-motion LEGO short, commissioned in 2002 by Python Pictures based on an original pitch by Terry Gilliam. This is a special HD upgrade from the standard-def original and is the best available version.
Described by Stuff You Should Know podcast as “Probably the best (brickfilm)” and by Terry Gilliam as “Definitely the best version of the film”.
Doubtless our most recognised film thanks to its ongoing fame via the Holy Grail DVD/Blue-Ray release, but also via countless tv broadcast appearances worldwide. The short has also been featured on a number of magazine cover discs (remember those?) and in the days before Youtube, could be found at the very top of the charts on Yahoo Movies, iFilm, Atom Films and Veoh. Today it continues to viral, inspiring imitators and even fan sequels.
