“This reel forms a collection of animation work executed in the fields of Business Communications, Internal Comms’, and Explainer videos, both as a freelancer, and as an independent producer direct to client. Mainly produced using After Effects, Flash and occasional C4D.
We’ve done about 100 more of these things in our time, but these are a few recent ones. First clips are from freelance roles for BDA, Belong and Merchant Cantos, the latter three (the rotoscope and the two stop-motion pieces) I produced wholesale direct to client through Spite Your Face Productions.
The 2D sequences are mainly produced through a Flash > AE > Final Cut workflow.
The ‘cut-out’ sequences at 00:41 were not animated by me, but I created all the drawn assets, built the 3D project area including ‘hand held’ motion assets, and storboarded the film for handover.
The rotoscope sequences from 01:50 are from a film produced direct to client. I directed and shot all original video footage, edited it, then heavily processed the live footage to resemble ink sketches. Finally I manually rotoscoped or hand animated key characterisation elements.
The sequences from 02:04 are from a direct-to-client stop-motion piece. The character are hand-made mods from Stikfas figures with faces rotoscoped and animated in 2D.
From 02:18 another direct-to-client piece produced in stop-motion LEGO using a DSLR > AE > Final Cut workflow.”
